10.27.07Fuck pagerankWell I just got in from the Aesop Rock concert here in Vancouver. (it was incredible, by the way) As I logged on tonight, I noticed that there's a new pagerank listed for seocracy.com. Now, I can't really be bothered about Page Rank, but bear with me here: My whole site was previously PR 0. My downloads page received a PR 2....that page isnt even fully accessible to the spiders as it requires a login, so clearly the ranking wasnt based on content relevance. 10.24.07Facebook unveiling new ad networkWell today I went by the Facebook Developers Garage at VFS. It was an interesting mashup of people intent on developing applications for Facebook. I didn't stick around long as I was on other business, but I was around enough to glean that there is a major announcement coming down the pipes at Facebook. They are expected to announce their brand new ad network on November 6th. Apparently this new system will allow advertisers to target Facebookers users both on the Facebook.com site and off the site. What does this means? It means that Facebook stands to reap massive rewards ...

10.24.07Link Love – October 24For today's link love, I want to showcase a little security oversight that gives me a chuckle. In a ruby on rails app, there is a yml file that declares all the database connection info. It is typically stored in the /config/database.yml folder. Now if a rails app is properly set up, this folder is never publically accessible. But some people are idiots, as we all know. 10.24.07Time to get your Learn onI recently moved into a new house. It was an asbolute NIGHTMARE that I can't even begin to describe. All I can say is that I'm thankful to have alot of helpful friends, because I couldn't believe how mcuh stuff I have accumlated over the years! One of the biggest pains for me to relocate was my library of books. My collection of books is so vast that ive had to split it in three...some with my brother, some in a storage locker, and the rest with me at my new home.
